Description of Duties
Repair & adjust complex die sets. Inspect, measure, troubleshoot, & repair common failures. Heat-treating tools/parts. Smooth flat & contoured surfaces, using scrapers, abrasive stones, & power grinders. Verify dimensions, alignments, & clearances
Brief description of products and services
Maintain existing tooling of stamping dies. Press side support & troubleshoot when typically stamping mild steel 1-2 mm thick in compound push back dies running in 400-600 ton presses running at 100spm. Tool room maintenance of dies.
Brief description of tool room support equipment
Standard Bridgeport type knee milling machines, collection of high speed lathes and 12-18” swing engine lathes, manual surface grinders & the work horses of a die maintenance tool room Okamoto & Mattison grinders
Brief description of engineering support systems and staff
The tool room is fully supported by tooling engineers and all tooling is accurately documented with detailed engineering drawings retained and organized in a PLM system with Autocad as the backbone for tooling design.
Brief description of tooling materials
Cutting edge die components are commonly made of D2, A2, T-15, CPM 10v, M4, and carbide. Material fabricated for equipment support of production/operations could range from plastics, red metals, tool steel, LC steel, SS, and aluminum.
